The surgical department covers all surgical procedures in general surgery. We specialize in minimal invasive surgery. Our goal is to achieve the highest quality in patient care while providing a personal approach.
The highly regarded personalized nursing concept as well as the broad cooperation with our non-surgical specialists ensures a high quality care and fast recovery time.
The department covers the following specialties:
Hernia surgery
- Minimal invasive techniques as the standard approach for all inguinal and abdominal hernias
- Open techniques in special circumstances
Tumor (oncologic) surgery (benign and malign tumors)
Tumor surgery is performed in close cooperation with the oncologists, radio-oncologists and pathologists. All tumors are discussed regularly at our interdisciplinary tumor board.
- Tumors of the upper gastrointestinal tract (stomach, duodenum)
- Tumors of the gallbladder, bile ducts, liver and pancreas
- Small bowel and colorectal tumors
- Tumors of the endocrine organs, i.e. of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland
Upper gastrointestinal surgery and bariatric surgery
Upper gastrointestinal surgery including bariatric surgery is one of our core interests and we are therefore able to provide a highly specialized treatment.
- Surgery for gastro-esophageal reflux disease, achalasia and hiatal hernias
- Surgery for esophageal diverticula
- Bariatric surgery (gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, gastric banding, biliopancreatic diversion)
Benign diseases of the abdominal cavity
All benign diseases of the abdominal cavity are treated at our department.
- Removal of the gallbladder (stones), surgery in chronic pancreatitis
- Removal of the spleen in hematological diseases
- Diverticular disease of the small bowel and colon
- Surgery for Crohns disease and Ulcerative Colitis
Endocrine surgery
- Surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands
Proctology
Problems of the rectum and anus are assessed in a specialized outpatient clinic. We perform all surgical procedures in proctology.
Vascular surgery
Our EBSQ qualified vascular surgeon has a vast experience in all vascular procedures, including endovascular aortic aneurysm repairs. All vascular patients are investigated in our special vascular outpatient clinic. For specific queries please contact directly:

Thoracic surgery
We perform all thoracic procedures with the exception of large lung resections in patients with lung cancer. The minimal invasive approach (thoracoscopy) is our main technique. Our in-house lung specialist investigates all diseases of the lung. Patients with lung cancer requiring surgery are referred to a lung centre.
Trauma surgery
All types of fractures with the exception of fractures of the spine and skull are treated at our department. Our highly regarded emergency unit is run by emergency medicine specialists and allows fast investigations in all trauma patients. The surgical department provides a board qualified trauma surgeon 24/7.
- Fractures of the upper extremities including fractures of the hand
